Lamborghini Facelift! Silver to Matte Blue Metallic

When the owner of this Lamborghini Gallardo decided the car needed updating he took it over to Ozi Cozi in Sydney.

The choice of colour change was drastic as it went from the standard gloss silver paint to this awesome new Matte Blue Metallic from 3M Designer Wraps 1080.

The end result looks fantastic. Great job to all the guys at Ozi Cozi!

Demo day at Zen Garage

With the launch of the new 3M Designer Wraps 1080 retail program, MotorActive hosted a demo day at Zen Garage to showcase the remarkable new vinyl and application tips. With a selection of cars invited to attend to get some free wrap, there was a great turnout of people keen to learn some wrapping techniques.

The Panel and Accessory retail packs are now available through selected Autobarn stores and Zen Garage.

Lexus LFA goes Matte Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness!

The Faingaa Twins have been National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) ambassadors for several years now and this year they wanted to do more.

On October 12th 2012, they put together the Inaugural Think Pink Charity Golf Day, hosted by Hayley Lewis (swimming super star and Biggest Loser host) at Links Hope Island.

To help build awareness, Exotic Graphix, Lexus of Brisbane and 3M Designer Wraps partnered up to have this awesome looking LFA wrapped in Matte Pink and Carbon Fibre.

All profits from the day as well as monies raised from the auctions and raffles to be donated to the NBCF.

Rolls Royce Phantom wrapped in Matte Black

Sometimes you just cannot predict what’s going to turn up on your doorstep. This Rolls Royce belongs to radio personality Kyle Sandilands, and it’s matte black vinyl wrap has opinions divided.

There’s probably less than ten Rolls Royce Phantoms on Australian shores. These $1-million+ ultra luxury cars are not for everyone. Kyle bought his new in Charcoal Grey, but didn’t think much of it.

An initial face lift turned the car Gloss White, but that only lasted three weeks before Kyle changed his mind again “because it looked like a wedding car,” and chose the Matte Black finish you see here.

Both times the car’s colour was changed using vinyl wrap. This process is cheaper than a respray, protects the original paintwork and is reversible. Perfect if you keep changing your mind about the colour.

The current look is from 3M’s Designer Wrap Series 1080 and was applied over a five day period by the guys at PROvinyl.

Whether you like the way the outside looks or not, there’s no denying what lies under the hood; a 6.75-litre V12 making 338kW of power and 720Nm of torque. It’s enough to get all three tonnes of Rolls moving at 100km/h in 5.8 seconds.

Just goes to show that you never know what they’ll think of next.

MotorActive New Company Cars Gets a Wrap!

MotorActive have been known for its fleet of black company cars but this year we’ve decided to change it up.

We have taken the financially friendly approach and chosen silver 2012 VW Jetta TDI’s. Apart from being a great looking car, they have unbelievable fuel economy (Avg. 5.5L/100km) which means a nice saving on the fuel bill. To personalise the look, we added some of the new 3M Designer Wraps to the exterior of the car. The roof and part of the boot lid and bonnet stripe have been wrapped in 3M Series 1080 Carbon Black, and the front badge was removed and wrapped in Matte Black. Some nice new matte black wheels were then added to finish the car off.

All up we used about $500rrp worth of 3M Designer Wraps, and the job took most of the day to install. This includes all the time to prep the surface, removing the antenna and tail lights then putting it all back together.

A relatively easy and cost effective way of customising a car that will be returned to standard in a few year’s time.

Wrap Care

It’s important to regularly wash a vehicle especially if it’s wrapped. This will remove surface contaminates which could bond, etch or stain the perfectly smooth finish that the wrap provides. Treat the wrapped areas the same as you would the paintwork, just be sure NOT to apply a polish or wax as these products will add a shine to matte finishes and will fill in the texture on carbon and metal finishes.
