Today we will be showing you how to create a two-toned stripe design on your bonnet using Designer Wraps. We’ll be applying a Matte Red Metallic and Carbon Fibre Black down the centre of this 2000 Toyota Celica. These two colours both come in an Accessory Pack (1.52m x 0.5m) that also includes a felt tipped squeegee for application and a break away blade for trimming.
Before you begin to apply the designer wrap make sure you prepare the surface first by applying some wax and grease remover across the working area. This is designed to remove wax, grease and any road grime that may be on the bonnet prior to laying down the wrap.
TIP: Remember to not only to clean the top surface but also the under edges or any surfacewhere the film will come in contact with the paint.
When you’re finished with the wax and grease remover it’s important to follow up with an IsoProyl Alcohol surface prep spray. The IPA will remove any residue left behind from the wax and grease remover and give the surface the final prep so you can begin to lay down the first layer of wrap.
The next step is to apply the Knifeless Tape. The Knifeless Tape allows you to cut quickly without a blade, delivering a sharp edge that is perfectly straight or curvy. It eliminate the chance of cutting into your paintwork when trimming with a blade.

Get our your tape measure and make sure your measurements are correct before you begin to apply the knifeless tape. It’s a good idea to use masking tape as your guides.
Unroll the first layer of metallic red designer wrap across the bonnet and cut to size. Leave some excess material as you will need to tuck the excess wrap to the underside of the bonnet edges.
With the help of a friend peel the backing off, apply the designer wrap down the centre of the bonnet. Using the felt tip squeegee included in the assesory pack, begin to move the air out of the centre and move towards the outter edges.
Slowly peel back the knifeless tape, cutting through the first layer of designer wrap and remove the excess red metallic. Using your fingers, or squeegee put downward pressure on the edges of the wrap where the knifeless tape has cut. Be cautious and ensure you don’t cause any damage to your paintwork.
The next step is to apply down some more Knifeless Tape that will cut the layer of Carbon Designer Wrap we will apply shortly.
Note: The Knifeless Tape is only designed to cut through single layers of designer wrap
Just like the first layer of wrap, cut your Carbon Designer Wrap to size and repeat the above steps.
Slowly peel back the knifeless tape, cutting through the second layer of designer wrap and remove the excess wrap and knifeless tape.
The final step is to give the wrap a quick clean. Using your IPA and a microfibre towel give the surface a wipe to remove any fingerprints or dust. Well there you have it, a quick an easy solution for two-toned stripes.
